New posters for the latest Edgar Wright movie, Last night in soho, show three characters played by Anya-Taylor Joy, Matt Smith and Thomasin McKenzie. The next film from the author of the Cornetto trilogy is a murder mystery thriller that bears little resemblance to the director’s catalog of British comedy classics. Last night in soho follows Eloise (McKenzie), a fashion designer who is transported back to the 1960s and engulfed in a sinister and mind-blowing plot, with horror and murder creeping in.
In three new character posters shared by IndieWire, the three biggest stars in the film are showcased in contrasting tones and color schemes. First is Anya Taylor Joy from The Queen’s Gambit fame as Sandie, a singer from the sixties, seen sullenly lit in what appears to be a lounge or club. Next, Jojo Rabbit star McKenzie as current female lead Eloise, looking understandably confused and possibly in danger. Finally, The crownMatt Smith as the mysterious Jack, with a devilish and sinister smile creeping across his face.
Last night in soho is a highly anticipated film, shrouded in mystery, and features appearances by Terence Stamp and the late Dame Diana Rigg. One step away from his comedy roots, Edgar Wright has written the script with 1917 writer Kristy Wilson-Cairns this time, instead of her regular partner Simon Pegg. If Wright’s recent solo effort, Baby driver, It is an indication that the film must have both the critics and the public engaged and entertained. Last night in soho hits theaters in the United States on October 29.
