After teasing the DCEU in its 400th episode, the people of Screen addicts They didn’t stray too far from the mark for their next Honest Trailer while targeting Snyder’s Army of the dead. Between the out-of-focus camera work, the many illogical decisions of its characters, and the failure to harness their potential, the film offered many goals for the group. The funny video can be seen below:
Snyder has been frequently credited in his filmography for his visual approach to his projects, be it the DCEU’s darker color palette or excessive use of slow motion in 300. For his Netflix zombie epic, the filmmaker certainly put many of his unique sensibilities on the film without the creative wrangling of studio intervention, but whether that was for better or for worse is up to your own mind. While critics have had mixed to positive opinions on the film since its release, the only thing that was generally agreed upon was its ambition to build a world and feel better than the DCEU.
Although the ending left things pretty finite for the vast majority of the film’s cast, fans of Army of the dead you won’t have to worry that it’s the end of the potential franchise. With production wrapping up on its live-action prequel movie in December and scheduled for release later this year on Netflix and a prequel anime series also in the works, this new zombie world isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Plus, with Snyder’s continued teasing about a possible sequel, those who survived in the first movie can see their stories continue in the near future.
