The first photos of Stephen King’s new adaptation of Children of the Corn have been released, showing the haunting atmosphere of the film.
Stephen King The corn boys is getting a new prequel / reboot and the first batch of spooky promo images have just been released. Written and directed by BalanceKurt Wimmer, the film delves into what happened before the 1984 adaptation of King’s tale. This adaptation will add to King’s long line of films, making him one of the most adapted authors in the world and serving as the eleventh film in the series. The corn boys Serie.
In Wimmer’s adaptation, a 12-year-old girl gathers a group of children from her small town in Nebraska (the same town where the horrific events of the 1984 film took place) to go on a massacre while murdering all of the unscrupulous adults. and anyone who tries to challenge them. Fortunately for the city, a high school student takes matters into her own hands as she tries to stop the violence once and for all. The film will star Elena Kampouris (Before i fall), Kate Moyer (Our house), Callan Mulvey (300: Rise of an Empire) and Bruce Spence (Mad max).
ANVL entertainment (the film production company behind the reboot) released the first look at the movie with creepy stills and a couple of behind-the-scenes shots. Check out the photos below:
Having been filmed in Australia during the pandemic, the film has slipped under the radar of fans as they are swept up in the multiple King adaptations hitting screens this year. The film received a very small theatrical release last year, but an official release date has yet to be confirmed. While the first films in the franchise were popular, the series has been constantly scrutinized by critics, and the question often arises as to how the original film got 9 sequels.
Based on the franchise’s downfall and the fact that the prequel is receiving little to no promotion, missing out on the myriad 2021 releases, it will be interesting to see how the movie performs. Although, with the exception of the first two films, the franchise has had direct-to-video releases, meaning they bypassed theaters and went straight to being released in home video formats. So maybe the Wimmer reboot will follow in its footsteps and save itself from a potentially poor box office performance. With the first images finally revealed, hopefully this means more promotional material will be released soon, and perhaps a trailer, to offer more insight into this brave adaptation of The corn boys.
