Disney+ Celebrates Black Widow Release With Solo MCU Movie Posters

To celebrate the launch of Black Widow on Disney +, the streaming service changes the posters for MCU movies featuring Natasha Romanoff.

In celebration of her theatrical and Disney + release this week, the streaming service replaces the posters for every MCU movie featuring Natasha Romanoff with a solo. Black widow poster. Scarlett Johansson has played the former super assassin and SHIELD agent since Phase One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even before he became a founding member of the Avengers in the 2021 team film, there was talk of a Black widow solo outing. That never happened, and in Avengers Endgame (2019), Natasha sacrificed herself to save half the universe.

Now, Black Widow is having a prequel-style solo adventure that takes place between the events of Captain America: Civil War Y Avengers: infinity war. Expected to be her final swan song / MCU appearance, Cate Shortland Black widow explore the untold stories of Natasha’s past; including his experiences with the Red Room training program and that infamous Budapest landmark. The film will also introduce several new characters in the Red Room trainees Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Melina Vostokoff (Rachel Weisz), the Russian version of Captain America in Red Guardian (David Harbor), and the enigmatic villain Taskmaster.

In honor of Johansson’s long tenure with Marvel Studios and the release of Black widow—First MCU movie in over two years – Disney + (via Reddit user Samoht99) has changed the main posters of seven key films of the universe. Every movie Natasha Romanoff appears in now features a solo poster of her related to her appearance in that movie. Check them out below:

As seen above, Johansson’s widow has changed a lot since 2010; evolving dramatically in both appearance and characterization. From being hypersexualized in Iron Man 2 to a brave outlaw in Avengers: infinity war and leader in Avengers Endgame, Black widow see Johansson on the other side of his character’s metamorphosis. It’s a wonder why it took seven movies to win a solo outing; Black widow it could easily have gone into production and released as part of Phase Three. However, the blockbuster will now look to the past and the future simultaneously, which could be to everyone’s advantage.

Natasha and Clint Barton aka Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) were the only founding Avengers without their own movies / franchises. Black widow and the next Disney + Hawkeye series seeks to make up for lost time. The Black Widow mantle is expected to pass to Natasha’s surrogate sister Yelena de Pugh, who will reprise her role in Hawkeye. Johansson does not plan to return as her character, but Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has expressed his desire to continue working with her in some way. As the Disney + posters demonstrate, she is more than just a secondary player.
