From Disney Disenchanted Director Adam Shankman shared a new behind-the-scenes look at the film’s musical numbers. The long-awaited sequel is a continuation of the 2007 hit movie. Haunted starring Amy Adams as Princess Giselle. On the day of her wedding to Prince Edward (James Marsden), Giselle accidentally leaves the animated fairytale kingdom of Andalasia for the live-action world of New York City. The film wowed audiences with whimsical music that garnered three Best Original Song nominations at the Oscars.
More than a decade after the film’s release, fans had almost given up on a second installment. Disney then delighted audiences during its 2020 Investor Day call by confirming that a sequel was in development. Appropriately titled Disenchanted, the story takes place ten years after Giselle’s happily ever after with Robert (Patrick Dempsey), where she questions her happiness. Adams and his original co-stars Marsden, Dempsey, and Idina Menzel are back for the film. And so are the lovely musical numbers.

What Disenchanted movies all summer, director Adam Shankman has been teasing the world with updates. The Rock of Ages The executive producer recently shared a sneak peek inside the rehearsal room of the film’s musical numbers. Along with a group photo of masked dancers inside the dance studio, Shankman explained that the best part of his job is employing 75 dancers.
The conductor rises high in the funny snap as the dancers lift him into the air. Upon closer inspection, it appears that many of the dancers are wearing large rehearsal skirts, which could indicate the fact that there will be an epic fairy tale number. A collection of famous friends, including Michelle Pfeiffer, Heather Morris, Cheyenne Jackson, and Jenna Dewan, filled the comment section with excitement, as did Disney fans.
Disenchanted has been filming in Ireland and will continue to do so throughout the summer. The mouse projects a premiere in 2022 on Disney +, likely with a Premier Access debut initially to get as much profit as they did with Cruella Y Mulan. Unlike those movies and the rest of the original Disney + cannon, Enchanted 2 is set to be the streamer’s first full musical film.
If the songs are half as catchy as the Haunted, Disney can simultaneously expect a lot of success on the music charts. Fans are already expecting an evil ballad from DisenchantedThe new evil Malvina Monroe, played by Maya Rudolph. Broadway icon and Frozen Favorite Idina Menzel will also have a solo number, an effort to correct one of the first film’s biggest mistakes: not using her powerful tubes. Starring Adams will sing again, and with Disney legends Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz teaming up to write, expectations are high.
