Hawkeye’s Jeremy Renner Reveals MCU Movie He’ll Never Watch Again

Jeremy Renner reveals why he will not see Avengers: Endgame again. He says he saw the movie at the premiere and left him and his co-stars in tears.

Hawkeye Star Jeremy Renner has revealed which Marvel Cinematic Universe movie he never plans to see again. Renner has played Marvel hero Clint Barton / Hawkeye for over a decade, appearing in Thor, Captain America: Civil War, and three Avengers films. Now the character is finally getting top billing as the Hawkeye The Disney + series launches its first two episodes this week. Renner stars in the series alongside Hailee Steinfeld as fan-favorite character Kate Bishop, and the series is Marvel Studios’ fourth live-action series to hit the streaming service this year.

Although Hawkeye has been a crucial member of the Avengers throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the character was given more to do in the ending of the Infinity Saga. Avengers Endgame. Clint goes on a rather emotional journey throughout the film. It begins with the loss of his entire family as a result of Thanos wiping out half of all life, leading Clint down a dark path as he takes up the mantle of the brutal vigilante, Ronin. After re-teaming with the Avengers, Clint tries to give his life in exchange for the Soul Stone, but Natasha Romanoff eventually stops him and sacrifices himself. The film ends with Clint mourning the loss of Natasha and Tony Stark, and at the same time grateful that their sacrifices gave him back to his family.

In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1, Renner says he saw Avengers Endgame at the premiere, but he never plans to see it again. He goes further by saying how incredible the experience of seeing the film was, and that it left him and his teammates. Avengers co-stars sobbing. Read Renner’s full quote below:

I saw it at the premiere, but it was something to celebrate for all of us. We all laughed and cried and it was a lot. I will never see that again. It was a difficult experience. We were all a sobbing mess and laughing. It’s amazing, we were like audience members and it was amazing to experience it. I mean, it was a beautiful, beautiful experience to share. “

Renner’s hesitation to revisit Avengers Endgame not that surprising. From the viewer’s point of view, the film is a great viscerally emotional experience. One could imagine that having actually worked on the film and played a key role in building the universe for that climactic experience would only make it even more powerful and fascinating. Not to mention that Renner is a working actor whose schedule is pretty tight, he probably won’t have much time to rewatch his old movies in the first place.
