The latest trailer for Warner Bros. ‘adaptation of In the heights has arrived. With Hamilton Having received the cinematic treatment last year, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s other Tony-winning musical is getting its moment in the limelight. Miranda wrote the music and lyrics for In the heights, while Quiara Alegría Hudes was the mastermind behind the book. Both have contributed to the film adaptation, directed by Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians). In the heights is one of many WB movies to debut both on HBO Max and in theaters this year, and will be released on June 11.

Located in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City, In the heights focuses on Usnavi (HamiltonAnthony Ramos), a winery owner who dreams of saving enough money to move to his late parents’ home country, the Dominican Republic. During the Sunday night telecast of the 93rd Academy Awards, Miranda debuted the most recent trailer In the heights. In addition to revealing more of the spectacular “Carnaval del Barrio,” the trailer plays part of the sweet duo “When the Sun Goes Down” to start. Check it out below.

Between In the heights and Steven Spielberg West Side Story remake, 2021 promises to make up for the lack of traditional music movies that were produced last year. Both films were supposed to debut in 2020, but now they can help usher in a brighter future after the pandemic. In the heightsespecially since it will kick off a delayed summer movie season. The musical’s events take place on a handful of scorching summer days, so it’s only fitting that it opens in June. The last look at In the heights put the focus on the big dance numbers, with the aforementioned “Carnaval del Barrio” really taking center stage.

Next to the colorful and boisterous showstoppers in the newest In the heights The trailer is a theme that is very prominent within the musical: Dreams. It’s clear that Chu has chosen to take an almost fantastic approach to certain numbers, as seen in moments like when Benny and her crush / childhood friend Nina (Leslie Grace) dance down the side of buildings. That probably belongs to his Act 1 number “When You’re Home.” Chu’s creative approach to In the heights it will surely add an extra level of beauty to the musical already felt. Hopefully the finished product will live up to the vibrancy of the trailers.
