James Gunn shares funny Suicide squad fan art depicting the titular team fighting Starro in the classic comics. Writer / director Gunn ventures into the DCEU with Suicide squad, the second attempt to bring the mischievous anti-hero team to the big screen. After 2016 Suicide squad failed to win over the public, Warner Bros. sought to take the property in a new direction. Gunn’s version will retain a handful of characters from the original film, such as Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman). However, much of Suicide squadThe cast will be made up of new faces, from Peacemaker (John Cena) to Ratcatcher II (Daniela Melchior).
Suicide squad Follow the team as they embark on a dangerous mission on the island of Corto Maltese. The updated version of Gunn will be R-rated and much weirder than the original movie. Case in point: the first trailer for Suicide squad confirmed that the team will face off against Starro, a kaiju-like villain from the pages of DC Comics who resembles a giant starfish. For any other comic book movie, this one would feel like an odd choice. However, when considering the nature of Suicide squad, it is very appropriate.
Artist Marcelo Damm created a piece for Suicide squad inspired by a classic League of Justice comic cover. The heroic team fought Starro on the cover of The Brave and the Bold # 28, his first appearance. Damm used that image but swapped the Justice League for the Suicide Squad, specifically using Gunn’s characters. Gunn then shared the art on social media in honor of Suicide squad being three months away from liberation.
Gunn has explained why Starro is the perfect villain for Suicide squad since it is “a giant azure blue starfish, but it’s also terrifyingly scary. He’s also not the only bad boy the team will face in the movie, although he certainly has to be in the race for the strangest. For fans not that familiar with the comics, Starro is a surprising figure, and his presence in Suicide squad it will surely inspire many varied reactions.
Suicide squad It will premiere in August as one of many Warner Bros. films to receive a double theatrical release from HBO Max. It stands as one of the most anticipated films of the year, and after a 2020 with very few box office successes, its arrival will be welcome. Gunn has steadily increased enthusiasm for Suicide squad, to the point where fans even started wondering if it could come out sooner. Sadly he won’t, but there are only at least three months left before the public can see the team, and Starro, in action.
