Many Saints of Newark Star Joins True-Crime Boston Strangler Movie

The upcoming Boston Strangler film has added Carrie Coon, Chris Cooper and Alessandro Nivola from Many Saints of Newark to join star Keira Knightley.

Boston Strangler has added three new actors to the cast: Alessandro Nivola, Carrie Coon and Chris Cooper. They unite star Keira Knightley, Who is playing Loretta McLaughlin, an investigative reporter who first released the story of the Boston Strangler. McLaughlin and fellow journalist Jean Cole changed gender norms and put their own lives at risk in their search for the identity of the serial killer in 1960s Boston.

By Deadline, Knightley will be joined by a trio of impressive actors in Boston Strangler. Alessandro Nivola comes from the success of the Sopranos prequel The many saints of Newark, in which he plays Dickie Moltisanti. Carrie Coon is best known for her work on another prestigious HBO project, The remains, and will appear in the next Ghostbusters: Another Life and The golden age. Finally, Chris Cooper is a veteran character actor who took home an Academy for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Adaptation (2002). 20th Century Studios has yet to reveal who the newly hired cast members will be at Boston Strangler.

Boston Strangler is written and directed by Matt Ruskin, a native of Boston. Ruskin rose to fame in 2017 when he wrote and directed Crown heights starring LaKeith Stanfield. The film will be produced by The last duel director Ridley Scott and Kevin Walsh of Scott Free Productions with Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara of LuckyChap Entertainment joining as co-producers. Boston Strangler is scheduled to begin filming in December.
