Robert Pattinson’s Batman Is A Badass, Says Jeffrey Wright

Jeffery Wright, who plays James Gordon in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, thinks Robert Pattinson’s version of the character will be “pretty badass.”

Robert Pattinson’s Batman is a badass, he says The batman star Jeffery Wright. Director Matt Reeves’ upcoming DC Extended Universe movie (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) is the first to introduce Pattinson’s version of the iconic superhero. After experiencing pandemic-related delays that made principal photography take a year, The batman It will be released on March 4, 2022.

The coveted role of Bruce Wayne had been filled solely in the DCEU by Ben Affleck, who was originally destined not only to star in The batman, but he also writes and directs. When Reeves took over, he expressed a desire to explore a younger version of the character, and Affleck left the project in early 2019. Pattinson’s casting was somewhat surprising, as he had largely avoided the blockbuster roles after your experience in the movie. Twilight films, who in the meantime became known as a versatile and highly acclaimed performer on the indie scene.

In an interview with AND, Wright, who plays Gotham PD’s James Gordon in The batman, gives the English actor’s version of the Dark Knight his stamp of approval. He describes that Pattinson’s personal acting style fits well with Reeves’ directorial vision, which should be a quality end product. Wright also says he really enjoyed their time together on screen:

Robert is going to do his thing, and we were working within a vision of Matt Reeves, so you know, Robert is doing what Robert does and I think it’s going to be pretty badass. […] I loved working with him, I love his vision and his energy and the way he brought different levels to different parts of the story. And we work with each other.

Pattinson is reportedly playing Batman in just his second year of vigilantism, and from promotional material released so far, Reeves’s film seems to take the character into particularly dark places. Paul Dano’s serial killer take on Riddler appears to be the film’s main villain, though several of Gotham’s big baddies are on the cast list, including Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Penguin (Colin Farrell), and Carmine Falcone. (John Turturro). Wright becomes the first actor of color to play Batman’s ally in the police department, while Reeves’ ex Planet of the Apes Contributor Andy Serkis plays Bruce’s loyal butler Alfred Pennyworth.

As is customary whenever a new Batman is released, fans are divided, and not just because many still associate Pattinson with glowing vampires. The launch of Zack Snyder’s Justice League rekindled appreciation for Affleck’s portrayal of the character, and that the effects of Warner Bros. ‘decision to abandon Snyder’s vision for the DCEU are so obvious in this film that it could create an inherent bias against him. However, Reeves’ track record and the immense talent he has gathered in front of the camera, especially Pattinson, suggest The batman has a real chance of overcoming these reservations.
