The dragon in Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings It may be the biggest Atlantis setup Marvel has attempted yet. Until now, Marvel has avoided directly mentioning the underwater kingdom and home of Namor the Sub-Mariner in Marvel movies.
A map marker at a seemingly random location in the Atlantic Ocean in Iron Man 2 it was taken as a reference to Atlantis, and an indication that this secret underwater city might exist in the MCU. However, it was difficult to say for sure if Iron Man 2 he was specifically hinting at Atlantis. A more obvious (but not cheeky) nod came in. Avengers Endgame through a strange exchange between Okoye (Danai Gurira) and Black Widow (Scarlet Johansson). When Natasha asked about Wakanda’s response to strange underwater earthquakes, Okoye said that they “Handle it without tampering.“Normally, such a comment would seem unnecessary, but not if the point was to establish the introduction of Atlantis in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which is expected to include Namor as the villain.

Avengers Endgame It was the closest Marvel has ever come to poking fun at Namor’s homeland, but it looks like Marvel may be taking a big step forward in Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings. The second trailer for Marvel’s first foray into the kung fu genre showed a blue dragon in an underwater sequence. Toys have spoiled that this creature is known as “The great protector“In the MCU. It is not clear what exactly it is protecting, but there is a possibility that “The great protector ” of Atlantis. After all, Atlantis is guarded by a huge guardian dragon in Marvel Comics. While Shang-Chi may seem like a regular choice to go in this direction, the inclusion of any dragon (not to mention the giant bears from the trailers) shows that it is incorporating some important fantasy elements.
Regardless of whether or not the Great Protector is revealed to be the MCU’s guardian dragon of Atlantis, this creature may still be connected to the mythical city. Namor the Submarine The comics have featured some Atlantean dragons over the years, showing that this species is native to Namor’s home in the Marvel Universe. Coincidentally, Shang-Chi himself had an encounter with one of these dragons of his own in a recent comic. So, with all that mind, the monster that appears in Shang-chi could also be from Atlantis, especially since the film will have to explain its origin. Although he may be living at the Mandarin base of operations (or a Shang-chi location), it is very possible that Atlantis is its origin. Mandarin (Tony Leung) could have acquired it somewhere in the ocean, either from within or not far from the city.
Proper configuration of Atlantis in Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings could come easily, as long as you enormous for the future of the MCU at the same time, especially when considering how important Namor and his people are in the comics. All Shang-Chi needs to do is have Mandarin or another character mention Atlantis when talking about the creature. Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) battling an Atlantean monster could be the perfect start to the long-awaited reveal of Atlantis in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
