Blumhouse’s upcoming reboot of the Stephen King classic, Fire starter, has added Of Helstrom Y Fear of the walking dead Sydney Lemmon to the cast. Based on King’s 1980 novel about a girl with pyrokinetic abilities, the book was originally adapted as a film in 1984 starring a young Drew Barrymore. Blumhouse Productions announced their latest property reboot in late 2019, and the new Fire starter The script has received the official seal of approval from King.
More recently, Term reports that Lemmon will play Charlie’s mother, the young woman around whom the story centers, and whose terrifying abilities were inherited from her parents, who participated in experimental drug trials during their college years. In the original 1984 adaptation, the role was played by Melrose place actress, Heather Locklear. Lemmon will join previously announced cast members, Zac Efron, as Charlie’s father Andy, and Charlie herself will be played by American horror storyRyan Kiera Armstrong.
Recent years have seen a major resurgence in new adaptations of King’s classics, and Fire starter It’s just the latest in a long line of movies, TV adaptations, and reboots that has included That, Pet Sematario, Y The support, Just to name a few. Fire starter It’s also not the only King story currently in production, as Blumhouse is also headlining a reboot of Christine with HannibalThe creator, Bryan Fuller, went on to write and direct. Currently, there is no set release date for Stephen King’s departure from Lemmon and Efron, but there are certainly plenty of other options to entertain fans of the undisputed master of horror until then.
