Sylvester Stallone Reveals He’s Writing Pitch For A Rocky Prequel Series

Sylvester Stallone has announced that he is drafting a pitch for a Rocky prequel streaming series featuring the original characters in the 1960s.

Sylvester Stallone is writing a speech for a Rocky prequel series. The seasoned action star has appeared in all eight movies in the boxing franchise, including the one directed by Michael B. Jordan. Creed and Creed ii. Those two most recent films caused a significant Rocky resurgence, bringing the franchise to a new generation of fans. Now, Stallone hopes to take the story back to the beginning.

When the original Rocky Released in 1976, it instantly became a huge hit, earning 10 Oscar nominations, including acting nods for Stallone, Talia Shire, Burgess Meredith, and Burt Young. Building on the continued success of the franchise and the modern era of streaming, Sylvester Stallone announced on Instagram that he is currently writing a speech for a Rocky prequel series. The show would be set in the cultural zeitgeist of the 1960s and would consist of “Ideally 10 episodes over a few seasons to really get to the hearts of the Characters in their younger years.” Stallone wrote. Presumably those central characters would be Rocky, Micky, Paulie, and Adrian, since Apollo Creed doesn’t meet Rocky until the first movie.

The idea of a Rocky streaming series is understandable given the success of similar shows like Cobra Kai, but it would present some unique challenges. The most compelling relationship in the original series is between Rocky and Adrian. Still, they don’t know each other until the first movie, which means the whole story should be put aside or reconsidered. Paulie is also quite a troublesome character who constantly exhibits racist and xenophobic beliefs throughout the franchise. It would take a lot of work to make it attractive in the modern age.

For Rocky In order to work, the prequel would probably have to focus more on Rocky and Micky during the boxer’s initial career and introduce several new characters to develop the story. Apollo Creed could also be introduced through a parallel but separate story. The 1960s is indeed a rich decade to set a program, and there are many social movements and thematic parallels that could be relevant in today’s world if written well in history. With Michael B. Jordan taking over as director for Creed 3, the future of the franchise already looks strong. TO Rocky The prequel series could also be an exciting addition, but it remains to be seen if the project will come to fruition.
