Vin Diesel recently made comments that hint at the possibility of Paul Walker’s daughter joining the Fast and Furious franchise with Fast and furious 9 about to fall later this month. Walker was one of the franchise’s biggest stars when he died suddenly in a car accident while Furious 7 was still filming in 2013. Production was delayed while the studio and creative minds decided how to move forward, but they teamed up to give Walker a proper sendoff on film. While Walker’s Brian O’Conner peacefully retired from the team with his family within the movies, Diesel can continue to pay tribute to his friend’s character and legacy with the addition of Walker’s daughter, Meadow Walker.

The next installment of the franchise is F9, which opens on June 25. It is directed by Justin Lin, a veteran of the series, having directed installments 3-6 before returning to the helm. F9. It features numerous returning actors in addition to Diesel, including Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Charlize Theron, and Helen Mirren. The new movie’s plot sees Theron’s Cipher recruiting Dom’s younger brother Jakob, played by John Cena. With Jakob out for revenge, Dom and his team find themselves in danger. This installment promises to be bigger than ever with the return of Sung Kang’s Han and the provocation of going into space.
While promoting the launch of F9, Diesel was being interviewed by IT IS! News when asked about Walker’s continuing legacy in the franchise. Diesel reflected on the tragedy of Walker’s death and the period of mourning everyone went through before saying: “The studio accepted a bold decision, which was to allow the character to exist in our mythology.” This was clearly important to Diesel as he went on to express that the start of the franchise also started a brotherhood that “will last longer than the franchise. The topic of the possibility of Meadow Walker joining the franchise was brought up, and Diesel was a bit reluctant to respond. Meadow is his goddaughter, as Walker was close friends, and Diesel often referred to him as a With that level of kinship, Diesel’s hesitation is understandable, but he finally got a response with:
I would not rule out anything. Leave me, without giving you all the secrets of Fast 10. Let’s just say that nothing is ruled out.
Meadow is a model, and although she doesn’t have acting credits, it seems Diesel has already thought about her joining the movies. If he participated, it would not be the first time the Walker family has entered the franchise. When Furious 7 returned to production after its hiatus, they brought in Walker’s brothers, Caleb and Cody, to help film the remaining scenes. His brothers share a resemblance to the late actor, so his acting was combined with CGI to finish the film.
Diesel was careful not to miss any details, so it is unclear how Meadow could appear in the series. In the movies, Brian and Mia had a son and left their dangerous job to start a family. With Mia de Brewster returning F9, the audience is likely to get an update on Brian’s status, which could shed some clues as to how Meadow can join the movies. Since there is a real family bond and a theme that runs through all Fast and Furious movies is family, it seems likely that Meadow joined the cast with a similar bond to the characters. While future details of the franchise are still under wraps, the public will be able to see it for the first time when F9 falls later this month.
