To complete certain new scenes for his Justice League, Zack Snyder was forced to direct those as Ezra Miller and Diane Lane on Zoom.
To complete Zack Snyder’s Justice League‘s Martian Manhunter’s opening scene, Snyder had to direct the actors on Zoom. With the launch of this new League of Justice, Snyder’s DCEU vision has been restored, albeit temporarily. The director left production midway due to a family tragedy, and the resulting cut, which was largely overseen by Joss Whedon, was shredded by fans and critics alike. However, thanks to the tireless enthusiasm of the fans, the famous Snyder Cut from League of Justice It’s finally been released to the world, and fans have spent the last week or so since HBO Max’s release breaking down all the major developments.
Much of what audiences see in the 4-hour cut was shot years ago, but Snyder still needed to do some new footage last fall to make sure he was making the exact movie he wanted. The new League of Justice the reshoots weren’t too long, and largely belonged to the Knightmare scene that appears during the epilogue. This had some complications; Ezra Miller was filming Fantastic Animals 3 in England, and the coronavirus pandemic still presented its own difficulties. However, Snyder finished the scenes he wanted.
Snyder recently sat down for an interview with Kyle McMahon and discussed his League of Justice and the future plans he had for the DCEU. In discussing the new footage from last year, Snyder touched on the strangeness of directing people over Zoom and even admitted to Martian Manhunter’s (Harry Lennix) surprise reveal from the film, where the alien is posing as Martha Kent (Diane Lane) after talking to Lois. Lane (Amy Adams) – Had to be completed via Zoom. Snyder said:
“We had to do it with Zoom because [Miller’s] in England and couldn’t travel so we did it through Zoom. I just needed a couple takes of him, but it was insane. I have never done that. I did Diane Lane the same way for her little one [bit], where she comes out and makes her Martian Manhunter cameo. That shot where she walks out the door and looks around, that shot that we didn’t have, so I had to take it. “
Snyder always intended to include Martian Manhunter in League of Justice, but it was removed from the theatrical version. The Snyder Cut sees Martian Manhunter appear in that brief moment after Lois’s talk and at the end, when she talks to Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck). It’s clear that Snyder has waited a long time to bring Martian Manhunter into his DCEU, and he wasn’t going to let the pandemic hold him back. Directing actors through Zoom is certainly unconventional, but Snyder had to do whatever it took to complete the scenes he wanted to include. Now however, it will be strange to see that League of Justice scene knowing very well what was happening in real life.
If Snyder has a chance to complete his vision for the DCEU, there could be more of Martian Manhunter ahead. However, WarnerMedia CEO Ann Sarnoff said last week that the studio has no plans to make any more DC movies from the director. Its most dedicated fans are still struggling to see the restored SnyderVerse, but so far, League of Justice is all there is to do. That League of Justice What happened is quite exciting, especially since the production got a bit complicated.
